Would you like a cough with that coffee? Probably not. But that’s not a choice that many Chicago workers can afford to make.

Almost a half-million workers in our city do not earn paid sick days. That means they often come to work sick — because if they stay home, they will lose their pay or their jobs.

You can help protect these workers by going to the polls on February 24 and answering “yes” on the advisory question regarding paid sick days for Chicago workers.

Right now, just 26 aldermen are siding with workers, including the more than 200,000 women who lack paid sick time to care for themselves or their sick children.

But your vote will send a strong message to the rest of the City Council: Pass the pending ordinance that allows workers to earn one day of sick pay per six weeks of work.

No one should have to choose between their health and a paycheck. And let’s just keep it to cream in our coffee.

P.S. Be sure to vote on February 24th and learn more about the earned sick time ordinance here.
