On Sunday, January 29, members of Chicago NOW participated in an event to celebrate diversity, hosted by Jewish Voice for Peace in Morton Grove. What was originally to be an event in the basement of the Muslim Education Center to demonstrate interfaith solidarity, turned into a rally and then a march when over 1,500 individuals showed up to participate.

The organizers called on citizens to support Muslims and for local municipalities to adopt sanctuary ordinances. Additionally, participants protested President Trump’s executive order banning travel to the US for immigrants emanating from predominantly Muslim nations in the Middle East which had been announced just days prior. Hats off to all participants of this important event.
