One of the most extreme abortion bans in the U.S. took effect last week in Texas. The law, known as SB8, bans abortion at six weeks, which is before many people even know they’re pregnant. The law also lets politicians, neighbors, and even complete strangers sue anyone who tries to help people access abortion after six weeks. The Supreme Court has failed millions of Texans. In the dead of the night, the Supreme Court turned its back on 50 years of precedent, rendering Roe v. Wade effectively meaningless in the state.
This is unprecedented and we can not let it stand.
