| We are happy to report that
our Chicago CEDAW effort has gained a great deal
of momentum! The Women's Convention Coalition, of
which Chicago NOW is a leading organization, has
been meeting with Aldermen to seek their support
for a local CEDAW resolution. To date, the following
Alderman have endorsed our effort: Walter
Burnett, Jr., Bernie Hansen, Joe Moore, Toni
Preckwinkle, Vilma Colom, and Mary Ann Smith. We
have several more meetings scheduled and have
been working to secure the support of Mayor
Daley. Additionally, there has been a great deal
of interest from the Cook County Women's
Commission for a County resolution. Also, Cook
County Board Commissioner Mike Quigley has signed
on to endorse our CEDAW efforts.
